The mother art is architecture, without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.

What does a professional architect do? You might think an architect only sketches out and builds houses or buildings. In reality an architect doesn’t only take care of that, but it creates the overall aesthetic and look of buildings and structures like highways and streets. It involves far more than just a design, you have to make sure it’s functional, safe, economical, and also fit the specific needs of the people who use them.

To be an architect you need to meet certain requirement. You require skills as well as education. In my opinion education takes longer, so it’s best to get that out of the way. If you are a high school graduate and want to become an architect you will need to persue a Bachelor of Architecture program, it usually takes no longer than 5 years to complete. You can also get a pre-professional bachelor’s degree in architectural studies or construction management which typically takes four years to complete.

Not only do you need the education but you also need the skills to be successful in this career. To close up the education you need, you will also need to have math and science skills, since you’ll be working with alot of measurements and will need to make environmental friendly and functional structures as well as buildings. Desgin skills, you will be able to bring your designs to life, so you need your design to be understandable for everyone else to picture. Team-building skills, being an architect requires being able to work with others. You will hardly be working on your own. Most importanly, communication skills. You are going to be working with customers and you need to be able to communicate with them to have their perfect home or business. If you don’t have communication then things most likely won’t turn out how they would like.

Being an architect doesn’t require things that are impossible. Many people already have the skills but just need the education. Architecture is art, you can get really creative with the buildings you build and put your own spice to it. It doesn’t necessarily have to be very modern and usual.
